bmi flights out of Heathrow’s T1
carry on smoothly

bmi, Britain’s second largest airline, is continuing to operate all flights as scheduled from its main hub at Terminal 1. Terminal 1, which now has 40% less passengers to accommodate following BA’s move to Terminal 5, is running like clockwork. bmi operates all its services within the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa from London-Heathrow’s Terminal 1. Transatlantic flight to the USA and Caribbean operate from Manchester. Nigel Turner, bmi chief executive officer, said “one in every eight flights at Heathrow is a bmi service and we have a punctuality record of 94% flights on time, reaffirming our position as Heathrow’s most punctual British airline.” bmi flies from London-Heathrow to 39 destinations worldwide. Destinations from Heathrow include: Aberdeen, Addis Ababa, Aleppo, Almaty, Amman, Amsterdam, Ankara, Baku, Beirut, Belfast City, Bishkek, Brussels, Cairo, Damascus, Dammam, Dublin, Durham Tees Valley, Edinburgh, Ekaterinburg, Freetown, Glasgow, Hanover, Jeddah, Jersey, Khartoum, Leeds Bradford, Lyon, Manchester, Moscow Domodedovo, Naples, Palma Majorca, Riyadh, Tbilisi, Tehran, Tel Aviv, Venice, and Yerevan.

bmi begins 2 new routes - Damman
and Tel Aviv

On March 1, 2008 bmi launched its new service from Heathrow to Dammam, Saudi Arabia. This route, operates via Riyadh three times a week on a wide-bodied Airbus A330 aircraft, with 42 business seats and 156 economy seats. It builds upon the success of our existing Saudi destinations - Riyadh, which launched in September 2005, and Jeddah in April 2006.

bmi also launched its new nonstop service from London Heathrow to Tel Aviv, Israel on March 13, 2008. This service is operated by an Airbus A320 in a two class configuration, with 20 seats in business and 108 in economy. The flight schedule has been specifically designed to offer passengers well-timed connections to bmi services to and from UK regional airports, including those in Scotland, Manchester, Leeds Bradford, Durham Tees Valley and Belfast as well as Dublin in the Republic of Ireland.

e-ticket update

bmi would like to inform all agents that bmi flights from London Heathrow to Jeddah (JED) Riyadh (RUH) & Freetown (FNA) are now e-ticketable. The first e-ticket flights for Jeddah & Riyadh will be on April 14, 2008 and for Freetown on May 1, 2008. Please ensure you issue all passengers traveling on this service with an e-ticket. This applies to all bookings ticketed on or after April 1, 2008. Failure to issue an e-ticket will result in an ADM of £25. Please note all bmi’s routes are now e-ticketable except: Bishkek (FRU), Dammam (DMM), Khartoum (KRT), Tehran (IKA), and Yerevan (EVN).

summer timetable changes

bmi doubled its service between London Heathrow and Moscow Domodedovo on March 30, 2008. The additional daily service builds on the success of the current daily Moscow flight which launched in October 2006 and marked bmi’s first venture into the mid haul market. On March 30, 2008 the scheduled flights between Heathrow and Leeds Bradford were reduced to four times daily with the suspension of the late evening flight. The once daily service from Heathrow to Inverness was also suspended and the summer-only services to Alicante and Nice will not operate in 2008.

Star Alliance™ gears up for Terminal moves at London Heathrow

Star Alliance is preparing to start implementation of its long anticipated 'Move under one Roof' project at London’s Heathrow Airport. Realization will be in various phases, with the first commencing in April this year and completion expected in 2012.The first phase of the project is a major overhaul of the current Terminal 1. Work is underway to demolish the existing check-in islands and create a completely redesigned check-in hall. In the future, bmi, South African Airways and United will offer an arrivals lounge in the Star Alliance design to eligible customers arriving on flights into Heathrow. The 3,500 square foot facility will be located outside the customs hall on the main level with convenient elevator access from the arrivals area. Overall 17 Star Alliance member carriers currently serve Heathrow, offering 184 daily flights to 83 destinations in 44 countries.
